Litter is a problem in our community.
Monterey County is one of the most beautiful spots in California yet
a trip on area roadways can reveal medians, roadsides, and parking
lots strewn with litter. Litter is not only an eyesore, it poses
health risks, impacts our coastal waters and is costly to cleanup.
The Monterey Regional Waste Management District has created this
website to help solve the problem and to recognize the great work
many businesses and civic groups are doing to help keep Monterey

Volunteers to Clean Up Area North of Marina
In January, a comprehensive effort was made to complete a massive clean up of Lapis Rd. and Del Monte Boulevard, north of Marina. Monterey County Public Works staff, and community volunteers organized by Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado worked together to complete this significant clean up. They collected and properly disposed of 33,000 lbs. of illegally dumped waste and litter. This effort was supported by the Monterey Regional Waste Management District and GreenWasteRecovery.
Free Disposal Vouchers are available to organizations conducting community clean ups like this.
